Sabah Ports exec and contractors remanded

Kota Kinabalu: A Director of Sabah Ports and Harbours and three company directors were remanded between two and four days to assist in investigations into alleged corruption linked to shipping arrangements between 2016 and 2018.Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus granted the remand application for the four suspects aged 42 and 51, by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Officer Mohd Faliq Basirudin, Tuesday.One of the contractors, who was represented by counsel Edward Paul, received two-day remand while the rest including the Sabah Ports and Harbours director, who were not represented, obtained four days each.

Balitus ordered all to be remanded from Tuesday.The four were remanded to assist in investigations under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009, for offering bribe to a civil servant.According to Faliq, the four were arrested at their houses between noon and midnight on Monday.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Faliq said during the arrests, MACC seized money and several vehicles.
