Johor: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) clinched the Super League title for the fifth consecutive season after defeating Kelantan 4-0 at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium, Larkin. They collected a total of 53 points after waging 20 matches so far, 18 points ahead of its nearest challenger, Perak which had collected 35 points.

Kelantan, which had managed to collect only 15 points with only four wins and three straight draws, remained at the bottom of the table and most probably to be eliminated from the Super League challenge next season.

In tonight's match, the four Southern Tigers' goals were scored in the second half, with the first being a result of a long distance shot by Argentinian Fernando Elizari in the 50th minute and the second by Mohd Afiq Fazail, only five minutes later.

Kelantan tried to fight back by bringing in several substitute players, but failed to curb the home side's continuous attacks which resulted in a third goal from young player Mohd Safawi Rasid in the 79th minute.

JDT captain Safiq Rahim added salt to Kelantan's wound with a fourth goal through a penalty shot awarded by the referee after defender S.Kunalan was offended by Kelantan players in the penalty box.

The Super League Trophy was presented by JDT president Tunku Aminah Sultan Ibrahim and witnessed by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin. – Bernama
