Assault: Duo to know fate Sept 14

Kota Kinabalu: Two local men who admitted assaulting a man in Penampang, will know their fate on Sept 14.Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus fixed the date for sentencing on Mohd Khairil Mohd Amsah, 20, and Bryian Malcolm La Thau Cheong, 27, who changed their plea to guilty to the charge against them on Friday.Student Khairil and bartender Bryian were accused of causing hurt to one Yasser Nur using an iron rod and a glass bottle at 5.45am on Aug 3 at the car park behind the Milimewa superstore, at Beverly Hills, Jalan Bundusan.

They face a jail term of up to 10 years or fine or whipping if convicted under Section 324 of the Penal Code.Earlier, Inspector Albert Basiri, prosecuting, applied for another date as the medical report of the victim was not ready and needed a month's time.The duo earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge when they were first produced in court on Aug 10.They were not represented.

In another case, a 43-year-old woman claimed trial to using a forged document four years ago.Wong Nyuk Fung allegedly used as genuine a forged yearly report of the Syarikat Kina Quarry Consultants Sdn Bhd between 9am and 5pm on Aug 14, 2014 at Block H, Lintas Square, Luyang.
