Labuan: Maybank via its Labuan offshore banking unit, Maybank International Labuan (MILB) has launched a new currency-linked structured product for its investors in Labuan IBFC with enhanced yield feature known as Dual Currency Investment (DCI).MILB General Manager Khairudin Abdul Rahman explained that DCI is a highly customisable short tenor product (consisting of less than 1 month tenor for 99 per cent of trades in the market) that pays a high attractive yield.

This DCI is designed to meet the demands of customers who have excess deposits and are seeking for alternative and more attractive investment options for a short period of even a week or two, pending the usage of their funds.

He disclosed that DCI is currently available to new and existing Maybank clients and can be subscribed from the office of Maybank International Labuan or Maybank, Global Markets, Malaysia.

'We are excited to partner with Labuan Financial Service Authority (LFSA) in its Non Deal Roadshow to showcase our capabilities in offering yield enhancement products in Labuan.

"The introduction of the DCI is also timely in line with LFSA chairman's call for more financial and investment products to be introduced in Labuan as part of efforts to support its growth as an international offshore financial centre," he reiterated.

He cited that exposure in currency pairs allow investors to enjoy enhanced return via DCI offerings.

Among the more popular investment instruments in Asian countries, the DCI appeals to high networth individuals and corporate segments as the product is capable of offering higher returns compared with conventional deposits.

Although short term in nature, investors are guaranteed the specified yield upon subscription of this product.

Khairudin spoke to Daily Express after the introduction of the DCI and other relevant treasury products, RCMS and offshore trade finance products offered by MILB here on Friday.

"We want to offer wide range of investment alternatives to investors as well as our customers and the business community in Labuan.

"Currently we offer various yield enhancement and offshore trade finance products as well as foreign exchange and interest rate hedging products," added Khairudin. - Iffah Dilaney
