Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal praised PKR Vice-President Nurul Izzah Anwar as one of the most dynamic parliamentarians around. "I am so glad to meet Nurul today. I pray that she will have a bright future. She will because she has leadership qualities," he said after a courtesy call at his office, Thursday.

Shafie emphasised the need to groom such leaders, not for Pakatan, not PKR but for the country. Nurul, who was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Christina Liew, described Sabah as one of her favourite states as it is one of the most beautiful in Malaysia.

"The people are the most loving and filled with camaraderie. I am really enamoured by the warm welcome. I was moderating the session organised by the Ministry of Education in KK Polytechnic. I visited a few of the institutes and Giatmara," she said.

Nurul would like the strong bonds to continue "because Sabahans have always been at the forefront of change."

She together with the Ministry of Education chose Sabah as the first state to organise their Townhall Session for TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training).

"We want to make sure that we uplift the future of the youth and it begins with Sabah on record," she said.

Meanwhile, Liew said she was happy that Nurul was in Sabah once again as the undemocratic ban (from entering Sabah) has now been lifted by the new Government.

"Her coming to Sabah means a lot to us, and we hope other leaders who have been barred from visiting the State will follow suit," she said.

Liew said the CM and Nurul discussed matters of state and national interest.

"We encourage more of this kind of meetings so that our state will benefit from such exchange of notes in terms of achieving the objectives of national integration," she added.
