8 held in Keningau drug op

Keningau: Eight individuals aged 21 to 42 years-old were detained in an Ops Cegah carried out by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), at three locations, here, recently.District Officer who also led the operation Azry Golbin Azmi said five of the suspects who are friends were arrested in a house belonging to one of the suspects who lived with his wife and children."During the operation all the suspects hid in one of the rooms.

"AADK personnel were forced to break open the door to enter the room when the suspects failed to cooperate."What's more heart breaking is that the house owner did not care that his home was used for drug activity despite having children staying there," he said.Azry said two other suspects were found in a vehicle. The case will be investigated under Section 3 of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act where the suspects will be remanded for 10 days at the AADK Detention Centre, Papar, he added.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, a man under the district's AADK supervision was jailed 15 months and ordered to receive two strokes of the rotan after being found positive for drugs.
