Girl missing in Tawau, feared attacked by croc
Published on: Wednesday, September 12, 2018

Tawau: An eight-year-old girl is feared to have fallen victim to a crocodile after she went missing while bathing at Sungai Kalabakan, here, Monday.

District Police Chief ACP Fadil Marsus said a search and rescue (SAR) operation was ongoing for Nur Aliyah Ansar of Kg Atur Maju and a student of Humana Child Aid Society Sabah.

He said the SAR began at 7pm on Monday by Pasukan Bomba Sukarela (PBS) with villagers but was called off at 10pm due to darkness and the rising Kalabakan water level.

"The operation resumed at 8am today (Tuesday), joined by police personnel from Kalabakan police station, marine police, Fire and Rescue Department and PBS Kg Kalabakan, as well as 60 villagers," he added.

However, no sign of the missing girl was detected as at press time.
