Kuala Lumpur: The man who took upskirt photos of a female worker at an optometry shop in a shopping complex here has been released on police bail.

Kuala Lumpur CID Chief SAC Rusdi Md Isa said the man, in his 40s, was released on Monday night after he was arrested at about 1pm the same day.

"I can confirmed he was released on police bail.

"We are investigating the matter further," he said when contacted.

Police also urged anyone with information on the case to contact senior investigating officer Asst Supt Azrizal Khairul Abd Kadir at 019-2769117 or the Sentul police district headquarters at 03-40482233.

It was reported that an aide to Deputy Home Minister Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman would be facing a police investigation after he was sacked for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman.

The man is said to have been caught on CCTV using his smartphone to take an upskirt photo of a female worker. A video recording of the incident was circulated on social media.

In the short clip, the man was seated next to another man believed to be Mohd Azis, who was having his eyes tested by the woman.

The man was then caught surreptitiously slipping his camera under the woman's skirt while she was busy with the examination on Mohd Azis.

The incident is believed to have taken place on Saturday and the victim has lodged a police report.

In a statement on Sunday night, Mohd Azis said he had sacked the officer.
