Remand ends for late CEO's wife
Selangor: Samirah Muzaffar, the wife of the late Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan, was released after being under police remand for 10 days.Samirah's counsel L.S. Leonard said his client was released at around 9pm yesterday.

Leonard said he was glad that things had finally ended and hoped that Samirah, 43, and her family could carry on with their normal routine.

Nazrin, 43, was found dead after being trapped in a fire on the upper floor of his house in Mutiara Damansara here on June 14.

On Sept 4, police obtained a seven-day remand order against Samirah and her ex-husband.

He was later released but her remand was extended until yesterday.

Two teenagers were picked up on Sept 8 in connection with the case and remanded for seven days but the Shah Alam High Court ruled that their detention was not justified and ordered their release on Wednesday.

Nazrin was the founding CEO of Cradle, the Finance Ministry company that manages the Cradle Investment Programme, which provides early-stage funding for startups.

Cradle gave grants first to successful startups like ride-hailing pioneer Grab (previously MyTeksi), and fintech startup iMoney.

Formerly an entrepreneur himself, Nazrin was an early member of the Technopreneurs Association of Malaysia, one of the key drivers of the Malaysian Business Angel Network, and a member of the World Entrepreneurship Forum's think tank.

Nazrin and Samirah have a son. He also had a son from an earlier marriage while Samirah has three boys from her previous marriage.
