No rest for Sabah karate even after surpassing target in Sukma
Kota Kinabalu: It is back to the drawing board for Sabah Karate Association (SKA) even after surpassing their gold medal target at the Perak Sukma Games.SKA head coach and secretary general Julian Chin said although Sabah won two gold medals, one more from SKA's initial target in addition to four silver and five bronze medals, Sabah karate needs to work harder to catch up with its rivals.

"I am glad that we managed to exceed our medal target and it is a good starting ground for us to prepare for the next Sukma in 2020. Our coaches have done very well and the athletes also worked very hard with the support from team manager Joanes Joitol. It was a good learning experience for us and we have learnt a lot but we still have to rectify our weaknesses in preparation for the next Sukma. We are going to start with the TID (Talent Identification Development) soon with a new approach," he said.

To this end, Julian expressed his gratitude to the Youth and Sports Ministry, MSN as well as SKA President Datuk Jake Nointin and his deputy Datuk Herman Tiongsoh and all supreme council members for their support. – GL Oh
