Sandakan: Although they are connected to clean, piped water supply, it seems more of a luxury to the people of Kampung Rancangan Luboh Peringkat 6, which is located just 45 minutes from the town centre. Here, say the residents, they face a permanent, serious water supply problem. One resident, Renni Majin, said the problem has become a norm to them and it is a routine chore for the villagers to gather rain water for their daily needs.

"In a week, there will be at least two or three days when there is no piped water. The last time we had piped water was last Thursday, and even then it was only for a while after midnight. Now, it has been five days without piped water," she said when met Tuesday. She added that the situation becomes worse when there is little rain water to gather due to low rainfall."The water in the tank is depleted because there is no rain. It is really difficult, the children go to school without bathing," she said. The village with its 160 homes was only connected to clean piped water supply just 10 years ago.
