RM31,600 contraband fags seized

Sandakan: Marine police here confiscated 5,400 packets of contraband cigarettes of various brands worth RM31,600, recently.Commander of Marine Police Regional 4, ACP Mohd Yazib Abd Aziz said based information a team of Marine Police monitored the road along Mile 8 on Sept 16.The team noticed a suspicious Proton Exora entering the parking lots of a supermarket at Mile 8.

The man sped off from the scene upon realising the presence of enforcement officers. A chase ensued and the Proton Exora stopped while the driver fled on foot.The driver managed to escape and an inspection on the vehicle, found 10 boxes contained 5,400 contraband cigarettes believed smuggled into the district from a neighbouring country.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
