Satisfactory performance by boxers

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah boxing contingent participating is the 19th Sukma Games in Perak is coming home with one gold and six bronze medals, according to team manager veteran boxer John Andriano.He described the performance of his 8-man team of boxers as satisfactory despite only securing one gold medal."We are happy with how our boxers fought inside the ring...they were mentally and physically prepared for the Games and we are all proud to bring home the medals," he said.

Sabah's Khairul Aziz Nasser defeated his opponent Daelonel Mcdelon Bong from Sarawak in the 56kg category in the final match Friday afternoon."Khairul displayed his boxing skills inside the ring professionally to successfully grab the gold medal as earlier dreamed by him," John said when contacted in Perak.The other bronze medallists were Aric Apar (49kg), Mohd Rayyan Rizqinn Mohd Kassim (52kg), Johari Daniel Gray (60kg), Adrian Junior James (64kg), Syamizan Hamsah (81kg) and Farsi Uwaimir Family (91kg)."I was a bit worried in the beginning of the national competition but then managed to gain back my composure and confidence when I started fighting....I was also highly encouraged to do my utmost best after witnessing the other matches of my teammates," Khairul said.
