Sipitang: More than 2,000 villagers from Kg Long Pasia and Long Mio are fed up with logging trucks they claim to have been using and damaging a public road that they regularly use to get to Sipitang town.Their spokesman Markus Buas said villagers have called on the Infrastructure Development Ministry to interfere in the matter by prohibiting all heavy-laden logging trucks from using the 125km road.He said on many occasions, villagers were unable to use to the road to get to town because it was impassable by their small vehicles.

He also said that on many occasions, the damaged condition of the road posed a risk to the villagers, especially when its slippery and wet.He pointed out that logging trucks use the road regardless of the weather condition."Rain or shine, you would see them taking the logs out. We're fed up with having to cope with this. Now we're asking the ministry to come down and inspect the condition. We're also hoping it could either stop the trucks from using the road," he said.He added since it is a public road, logging trucks should not be driving on it.
