Damas Fest to promote Sukau

Sandakan: The organising of the Damas Festival featuring the culture and heritage of the local community will further promote Sukau as a tourist destination.Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Mohammadin Ketapi said the traditional dance and music featured in the programme was not only a showcase of cultural heritage, but could also be a tourism product.Hence, he said, the ministry would provide support to the annual festival which was initiated by the Sabah Association of Bangsa Sungai (Sabas) since 2015.

Also present were Sabas President Datuk Juhari Janan and Sabah Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Assafal P. Alian.At the event, Mohamaddin, who is also Silam MP, was awarded the title "Tagazo" by Sabas. It is an honorary title given to leaders.
