Kota Kinabalu: A recent meeting between incoming PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and six senior Sabah opposition leaders was not political in nature, Kimanis MP Anifah Aman said Sunday. He said the group had paid a courtesy call on Anwar at his office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor on Oct 18 to congratulate him on his return to Parliament, as well as to discuss certain issues faced by Sabah. The six opposition leaders were Anifah, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) President Datuk Dr Jeffery Kitingan, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili; Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) Deputy President Arthur Kurup and Sabah Umno leader Datuk Zakariah Edris.ADVERTISEMENT "I gave a statement (to explain the nature of the meeting) two days ago, and I do not wish to repeat it," said the former Foreign Minister when contacted by NSTP.On Oct 19, The Malaysian Insight quoted Anifah, who left Umno last month, as saying that a discussion on IMM13 refugees in Sabah as well as the Malaysia Agreement 1963 took place during the Oct 18 meeting.Anifah also denied speculation that the meeting was held to discuss seizing power from the Parti Warisan Sabah-led State Government.Meanwhile, Jeffrey, when contacted, also said no political matters were touched on during their meeting with Anwar.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
