'Moves to abolish S'wak immigration rights'

Kuching: KUCHING: Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Saturday claimed that there were moves to abolish Sarawak's immigration rights.Abang Johari said a proposal on this conveyed to him by a certain Deputy Minister from the peninsula recently."There was a leader, a Deputy Minister, who came to me asking us (Sarawak) to give up our immigration rights. The person told me that it was about time for us not to have immigration control.ADVERTISEMENT "I said, no. Immigration rights are what we must defend as immigration powers are our powers as stipulated in the Constitution and also in the Malaysia Agreement (MA63)," he told reporters after chairing Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu's (PBB) Supreme Council meeting, Saturday.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, commenting on the nearly three-hour-long meeting, Abang Johari said the members discussed and examined Budget 2019 tabled on Friday to set up development and briefing mechanisms to be carried out in the State."We had discussed about the Federal budget announced on Friday by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government. We are grateful for the allocation of RM 4.3 billion, but we do not know the details of projects that will be implemented through the allocation," he said.
