Johor: At the age of 23, Nurul Ain Syamira Zainordi (pic) is the youngest weaver at the Johor Weave Gallery."Weaving is a rich and interesting heritage, but increasingly forgotten, I strongly encourage all the younger generation to learn the art of weaving so that it will never vanish with time."Younger generation should take up weaving, because it is easy to learn," she told Bernama here recently.

The Diploma in Art and Design (Fashion Design) holder from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) said her interest was being supported by her family members and she wanted to make it a career.She said weaving involved several processes, however, the most difficult process was 'menyampak' because the threads needed to be inserted one by one.Nurul Ain Syamira said initially she was only able to complete one woven cloth within a month but now she would only take three weeks.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, Johor Weave Gallery assistant curator Roslinda Mohd Rosli said besides Nurul Ain Syamira, there were three more weavers, aged between 23 and 30 working at the gallery.
