Defending champs easily qualify for Safa Cup finals

Kota Kinabalu: Defending champions Safa Bandaraya has booked their berth in the final rounds of the Sabah Football Association (Safa) Cup after topping the West Zone in the group stage tournament which concluded on Tuesday at the Likas Synthetic pitch.The team powered by three ex-President Cup players, Fuad Amin Madlan, Billy Doliante and Syazwan Roslan kept a perfect record by taking the maximum nine points with 2-0 victories in all three matches against Putatan, Papar and Penampang. Assistant team manager Matasan Ahmad said the team played well and deserved to be in the final rounds."Despite only two weeks of training under coach Roslan Wasli, the boys played very well and showed that they were the better team in the group and deserved to qualify," he said.
