200 take part in traditional archery competition

Kota Kinabalu: Some 200 athletes from 18 clubs throughout Malaysia took part in the Sabah Traditional Archery Competition-Khatra Open 2018 where the closing ceremony was held at SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin on Sunday.The four-day static event organised by Kota Kinabalu Traditional Archery Club, Kesatria Archery Club, Katra UMS Archery Club and the dynamic event organised by Petra Club, S.P.A.C Sipitang and Pasutra Club were held at SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin and at Pantai Kenangan, Bongawan respectively.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The main objective of the competition was to introduce and develop the sport throughout Malaysia and at the same time to serve as a platform for clubs to unearth new talents.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal in his speech read by Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry Chong Chen Bin praised the organisers for their efforts, and added that the competition which involved the wearing of multi-ethnic costumes may lead to becoming a tourist attraction for the State in future.
