Non-Muslim schools, groups get more

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government on Tuesday gave RM34.64 million in grants to 554 non-Muslim religious bodies and schools in the State for development and upgrade.The amount was RM3.2 million more than what the previous government had given these institutions in 2017 which was RM31.4 million.Out of the total, RM15 million was granted to non-Muslim schools while RM19 million to non-Muslim religious bodies.ADVERTISEMENT The schools that received the grants comprised those from south west coast and interior regions totaling 279 non-Muslim religious bodies and 275 national schools, national-type Chinese schools, mission schools, private schools, and kindergartens.Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, who presented the grants to representatives of the schools and bodies, assured to the people that the State Government under his leadership would fulfil its pledge to help non-Muslim communities, including to develop more places of worship.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
