Donald is made a Senator
Kota Kinabalu: Upko Deputy President Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin (pic) was on Thursday elected by the State Assembly to be a Senator, effective next month.Forty-three assemblymen present unanimously voted "aye" for the former Moyog Assemblyman after he was proposed by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Jaujan Sambakong and seconded by Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony.

Mojuntin, 53, will assume the role of Senator in place of Upko Vice-President Datuk Dr Lukas Umbul, whose service as a Senator ends on Dec 9.

Umbul, 60, was appointed as Senator in 2008.

The State Legislative Assembly also appointed seven assemblymen to the Sabah Permanent Committee.

They are State Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony, State Rural Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Arifin Asgali, Assistant Finance Minister Kenny Chua, Assistant Minister of Law and Native Affairs Jannie Lasimbang, Tambunan Assemblyman Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and Membakut Assemblyman Datuk Mohd Arifin Arif.
