35 sailors participate in Sandakan Regatta
Sandakan: The recently concluded Sandakan Regatta-Sandakan River Race-Sabah Closed 2018 was another successful event organised by Sandakan Yacht Club with 35 sailors participating from Sandakan Yacht Club, Kinabalu Yacht Club, Tawau Yacht Club, and Navy Yacht Club KK.The annual event listed in the Sabah Sailing Association's calendar of activities saw Brandon Yap Zhen of KYC emerge the winner in the Optimist Novice category while Adam Iwan Carraz and Zeid Ashraf, also from KYC, earned second and third runner-up respectively.

Kee Aleana Abdullah of KYC on the other hand, took the first prize in the Optimist Novice for Ladies while Nur Hafizanah and Marcella Wilson, both from SSA, took second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, Syahzaharoul Aiman of SSA took first in the Optimist Senior for Boys category while Muhd Asmawi Iqbal of SSA and Laurenz Leonardo Daim of KYC took second and third respectively.

As for the girls category, Nur Awatif Safri of SSA took first while Zeti Irdina Zainal of KYC and Chow Yi Ling of TYC took second and third respectively.

The three-day annual regatta was held in the sea fronting Sandakan Yacht Club from Nov 23 to 25.

The closing and prize presentation ceremony was conducted on Nov 25 and attended by the club's Honorary Vice-Commodore Datuk Charles O Pang, James Pua, Royal Malaysian Navy Region Two Headquarters Deputy-Commander, Commander Azeman Yusoff. - Mardinah Jikur
