Female hulkster seeking funds to compete at worlds

Kota Kinabalu: Female bodybuilder Meilaura Dora Jimmy is facing the challenge of seeking funds to enable her to represent the country at the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship in Chiang Mai, Thailand from December 11-17."I need around RM13,200 for the registration fees, a week's lodging, return air ticket, food and drinks as well as fees for escorting official Deborah Lynn Onul for the duration of the championship.""I am still hopeful that any individual, association or the private sector is willing to donate financially so I may compete in the tournament," said Meilaura after receiving a personal sponsorship from Sabah Blood Donors Association (Pendarah) president Alix Sunggin on Friday.

"I understand the cost of competing in this championship is very high and she (Meilaura) has yet to receive any financial aid from anyone even though she is representing Sabah and Malaysia at the world level event. Hopefully this small donation will help," said Alix.The Malaysian Bodybuilding Federation (MBBF) had selected Kota Kinabalu lass Meilaura to represent Malaysia at the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship in Chiang Mai.Meilaura is a national athlete (MBBF/ABBF/WBPF) and had placed sixth at the 2017 Asian Championship in Seoul, South Korea; fifth at the 2016 World Bodybuilding Championship (WBPF) in Pattaya, Thailand; and two consecutive third placings (2013 and 2014) at the Asian Championships in Vietnam and Macau.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
