Bomba win three-team football tournament

KOTA KINABALU: Bomba emerged triumphant in the three-team football charity tournament organised by State Fire and Rescue Department held in aid of the Tabung Wira Merah fund at Likas Stadium, Thursday night.
The team featuring former Rhinos player Rexjeson Pitirus chalked up two 2-0 victories against RTM and SS90’s to take the cup with the other match between RTM and SS90’s ended 2-2.

State Fire and Rescue director Kamarulzaman Malek Abdullah who was present accompanied by other top officials and guests to watch the games from the stand said he first got the idea to stage the one-day tournament after a courtesy call from SS90’s president Hashim Hamzah.
“His suggestion to have a football match with us prompted me to organise a three-team charity tournament to get RTM involved and I am glad they supported the idea as well.

“This will give the public an opportunity to contribute and I am sure they also realised that 2018 was a very challenging year for us with the loss of eight personnel during operations,” he said.
He added that RM30,000 worth of tickets have been issued and distributed to all the fire and rescue departments in the state to sell to the public and the total amount received should be known by January 30.
