Kitchen helper jailed for disposing of stolen Ipad
KOTA KINABALU: A 22-year-old kitchen helper, currently serving sentence for various offences, was handed another 30 months, Friday, for disposing of stolen properties.

Wan Adzuawanan Jasnan pleaded guilty before Magistrate Afiq Agoes to disposing of two stolen Ipad belonging to  Khairul Nizam at 3pm on Nov 1, last year at City Parade in Centre Point Sabah Complex.

Wan, who was unrepresented, requested for leniency, while Inspector Lim Swee Beng applied for an adequate sentence.

The court ordered Wan to serve the sentence consecutively.

In another case, a 49-year-old Korean company manager charged with two counts of drug-related offence will have his application for bail mentioned on Jan 17.

The court set the date for Kim Dongsu pending further verification of his passport.

Afiq adjourned Kim’s application for bail after going through a letter from the Immigration Department, which stated that there was no record on Kim’s entry into Sabah.

According to counsel Luke Ressa Balang, Kim had his passport stamped from the Immigration Department during his journey from West Malaysia to Labuan but he had entered Sabah from Labuan by ferry.

Kim’s passport is still valid, said Luke.

The court held that the court could not simply ignore the Immigration Department letter.

Luke said that they will write to Putrajaya to get further verification on the matter.

Kim was accused of having 2.25gm of syabu at a residential area at Jalan Lintas in Kepayan at noon on Jan 2. He was also charged with taking drugs at 1.20pm on the same day.

He was ordered to be remanded further pending mention of his case. –  Jo Ann Mool
