Published on: Saturday, March 09, 2019

Kota Kinabalu: An alleged rice transhipment bungle by Malaysian Customs may result in Sabah being blacklisted from future imports, according to a spokesman for seven firms acting on the matter which is said to have incurred over RM10 million in losses.

Peter Doan said the rice transhipment in 351 containers that were seized and detained by Customs in Kota Kinabalu port last September was meant for Southern Philippines and that they did not breach any Malaysian law.

A protest was held outside the Malaysian embassy in Vietnam Saturday morning over the matter.
