Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has vowed to help secure a 100 per cent victory for the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next State election.

At the party’s 18th anniversary celebrations here Thursday, its President Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan said its experience in successfully weathering numerous challenges since its inception would be a valuable platform for the party to assist the BN in garnering a landslide victory.

PBS is also the second largest party in Sabah after Umno with more than 250,000 registered members, said Pairin at the anniversary dinner held in Golf View Restaurant, Luyang, here.

“PBS is in good stead to help steer the BN to a landslide victory. The party has grown in maturity and we will use the experiences we have gained over the years to further strengthen the BN,” he said.

Pairin, who was Chief Minister during PBS’ nine-year rule (1985-1994), said the party had enjoyed excellent working relations with the other State BN component parties since it was readmitted to the coalition in January last year.

He also reiterated the party’s gratitude to the BN’s leadership, especially Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, for the support given to the party.

“We will continue to work closely with our partners in the State BN for the good of the State and the people,” he said.

All the PBS top guns, including the three deputy presidents Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili, Dr Yee Moh Chai and A.K. Alliudin as well as assemblymen, were present at the dinner.
