Censorship Board bans 21 movie productions

Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysia Film Censorship Board, in the Ministry of Home Affairs, has banned 21 movie productions in February this year.According to the board’s Sabah Director Datuk Haji Ahmad Mohd Taib, the English movies topped the list with eight titles, followed by Chinese (3) and one each of Malay and Hindi.

These are Against All Odds, Cape Fear, Daredevil, Look at Me America, Money Train, Twogether, Underworld, Voodoo Nightmare (English), Dangerous Duty, Girlie Bar, Roar of Vietnamese (Chinese), Mohra (Hindi) and Marrabbuka (Malay).

Also banned is a promo Daredevil - Superhuman.

The banned series are Dawson’s Creek - Ep 100 - Pilot, Futurama Ep 5, The Osbournes Ep 1-10 (English), Sakthi Amman Ep 1-7 (Tamil), and musicals Best Collection of Boomerang (Indonesian), Nirvana - Half Hour Special, Nirvana - with Sonic Youth and the Romones (English).

Meanwhile, Ahmad warned it is an offence to distribute, sale or possess the banned films in any format, and offenders risk facing heavy penalties under Section 6 (1) of the Film Censorship Act 2002.
