Group with forged credit cards on the prowl

Kota Kinabalu: A herbal products outlet and a seafood restaurant here have lodged separate police reports claiming to have been cheated by a group of customers using forged credit cards.It was learnt that the herb dealer at Foh Sang in Luyang, near here, was cheated of RM10,000, while the restaurant near the Royal Customs and Excise Department office here lost some RM5,000.

Both victims lodged the reports at the police headquarters in Karamunsing on Tuesday afternoon.

The restaurant owner, identified as Lim, claimed a group of eight persons came to his restaurant on Saturday night for dinner.

He said the customers ordered seafood valued at about RM500 and a take-away birds’ nest preparation valued at about RM4,500, and paid with a forged credit card.

They decided to lodge a police report after noting that both premises recorded similar credit card numbers.
