Papar: Haj pilgrims from Sabah have been advised to mind their discipline and not fly any political flags in the Holy Land of Mecca to ensure the good image of Malaysian pilgrims is maintained.
The advice came from Sabah Umno Information Chief, Datuk Abdul Rahim Ismail.
In the past, there had been pilgrims who seized the opportunity to promote their political stand by flying their partys flags in Mecca, he said after meeting 35 Mecca-bound pilgrims from Pantai Manis, here Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Sabah Pilgrims Fund Director Ahmad Razali, who was also present, told reporters that 500 pilgrims from the State would be performing the Haj this year.
For this year, we only have one direct flight from Kota Kinabalu to Jeddah, scheduled for Jan 13, he said.
He said last year there were 1,500 pilgrims from Sabah.-Bernama
