Kota Kinabalu: The State Government will consult the Sabah Federal Development Department (JPPS) and Public Works Department for ways to monitor and ensure smooth implementation of projects.Regretting that certain projects were found to be abandoned, delayed or incomplete before the end of this year, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman urged contractors to be more organised by making proper and thorough planning to avoid such disappointment.

"They must complete all projects as scheduled on time. Failure to do so will create problems and so much losses to all involved.

"They must explain why such scheduled projects are abandoned, delayed or incomplete. All will be taken into account as we will study them carefully," he said at a Hari Raya gathering jointly organised by State Umno Women and Puteri Umno at Maksak Hall, near here, on Saturday.

Present were Sabah Wanita Umno Chief, Datuk Dayang Mahani Tun Hj Pg. Ahmad Raffae, Malaysia Puteri Umno Chief Noraini Ahmad, its Deputy Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin and Sabah Puteri Umno Chief, Siti Hamni Hashim.

Fifty orphans from here, Penampang, Papar, Putatan and Sepanggar, were presented with green packets in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebration.

Musa, who is also Finance Minister, was asked to comment on delayed or abandoned projects by contractors in the East Coast of Sabah. He said a special committee was set up this year to monitor and look such projects.

On river pollution and illegal sand dredging activities such in Papar and Tuaran, Musa said he would ask for reports from the respective District Officers.

In his earlier speech, Musa said having open houses foster closer relationship among different political parties' members regardless of their race and religion beliefs.

He stressed that such events also consolidate unity, camaraderie and understanding among the party components members of Barisan Nasional (BN).
