Kota Kinabalu: Newly appointed Sabah Wanita Umno chief Datuk Armani Mahiruddin said Tuesday she wanted to recruit more women members to strengthen the party in the state.For a start, she will compile the profiles of the members and make plans to ensure the smooth running of the party machinery.

"I will visit all the 25 divisions in Sabah to get feedback on the efforts to attract more women to join the party and to arrange more activities," she told Bernama.

Armani, who is also a national-level Wanita Umno executive councillor, noted that Umno now had 1.33 million women members in the country, almost half of the 3.26 million Umno members.

She described her appointment as the state Wanita Umno head as a big responsibility and pledged to do her best for the benefit of the party and the people.- Bernama
