Sabah Parti Keadilan Rakyat also presented RM3,050.00 to MRCS. It's Deputy Head Christina Liew said the amount was proceeds from the sale of the book "The Asian Renaissance" authored by former Deputy Premier Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during last Friday's welcome dinner.
"We thank the public for their generosity and hope the victims will be able to rebuild their homes soon as possible," she said.
According to her, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) headquarters had raised RM250,000 for the victims in Aceh and another US$3.1 million worth of medical supplies and a water filtration plant were now on the way to Aceh.
"Our Ketua Pemuda is already in Aceh with the team of workers to lend a helping hand to the victims."
More schools have also got into the act with staff, teachers and students of Maktab Sabah students led by Head Boy Syed Mohd Farid Syed Hussin chipping in RM2,011.
Mohd Farid handed over the sum to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Kota Kinabalu City Branch Deputy Chairperson, Wong Kin Ying during the school assembly on Monday.
"We are continuing with our effort and more is expected to be collected in the following weeks," said Principal Julia Willie Jock.
An entertainment outlet and its patrons, including Likas Assemblyman Liew Teck Chan (centre), chipped in a total of RM4,553.91 to the fund.
DJ Fun Pub presented the donations to the Sabah Red Crescent tsunami victims fund raising committee in a brief ceremony in Kota Kinabalu, recently.
