Kuala Lumpur: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred 329km southeast of Manado (north Sulawesi) and 1,133km from Tawau, Sabah at 12.09pm Thursday, the Meteorological Services Department said. It said the earthquake took place at 0.1 North, 127.4 East and tremors may not be felt in the East Coast of Malaysia.Based on its location and magnitude, the earthquake was not expected to generate a tsunami that could affect the coasts of Malaysia, the department said in a statement. - Bernama
