Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman presented the Outstanding Woman Award to three deserving women in recognition of their contributions to society and the State.They are Li Yo Wei @ Rosie Lai, 59, a trainer in human resource development, freelance writer Rubiah Nordin, 51, from Kudat, and walker Elizabeth Maurice, 50, an administrative assistant with the Ministry of Defence, Sabah branch.
The Outstanding Women's Association Award went to the Sabah Nurses Association (Sana) led by National Matron Bibi Florina Abdullah. Its notable community service projects includes the "Home Care Project for Continuous Nursing of Patients", HIV/AIDS Awareness Project in Papar, the "Half-way House" for pregnant mothers who live in remote areas in Pitas and Kota Marudu, and the water project to supply clean water to villagers in Ranau.
The two recipients of the inaugural Young Generation Award are Mohd Hazli Ali Zapar, 16, a Form Four student of SM La Salle, and Mak Ching Hsia, 17, a Form Five student of SM All Saints. The duo are all-rounders in academic achievement, co-curricular activities and involvement in social and charity work.
