Kota Kinabalu: A 41-year old Papar farmer was jailed 14 years and ordered to be given 10 strokes of the cane after he answered "tatap" ("absolutely", in local dialect) to a charge of raping his eldest daughter.The man admitted before Sessions Court Judge Ravinthran Paramaguru to incest with his 13-year-old daughter at a house in a village in Papar this year, between Jan and Sept 7, and between 4pm and 10pm.

The charge under Section 376B of the Penal Code provides for a maximum 20 years' jail and 10 strokes of the cane.

According to the facts of case presented by prosecuting officer Chief Insp Dalbir Singh, the man's wife lodged a police report last Sept 13 after chancing upon them in a compromising position.

Investigations revealed the man had had sex with his daughter for about 10 times since forcing her to succumb to him one day while in a drunken state.

Locals Ibrahim Mustamin, 27, and Afsah Pg Ahmad, 23, were sentenced to eight months' jail and four months' jail respectively for having a packet of syabu weighing 0.07gm in a room at the Triple 9 lodging house in Bandaran Berjaya here on July 30 at 1.35pm.

Earlier, Chief Inspector Sabrina Jinius applied for a deterrent sentence for Ibrahim saying he has a previous conviction for a similar offence.

Another local Jong Yew Sin, 24, was handed seven months' jail for having 0.32gm of syabu at the Lido area in Penampang on March 20 this year at 3pm.

An Indonesian Edos Halim, 29, was jailed eight months for having 15 packets of the same drug weighing 0.48gm on a fishing boat at the Safma port here on July 18 at 3.30pm.

Magistrate Nurulizwan Ahmad Zubir ordered a local man D. Osmund Niip, 28, to pay a fine of RM2, 000 or two months' in jail for having 0.07gm of syabu at the Kolombong Industrial area here on July 20 at 4.05pm.

In another drug case, two foreigners were handed six months' jail each for taking syabu.

Indonesian Murni Yusup, 45, and Filipino Ali Jawang, 29, tested positive to syabu through urine tests conducted on them during Ops Tapis at Kg Air here on June 8 and at Kg Bakau in Likas on June 12, respectively. Chief Inspector Sabrina Jinius prosecuted.
