Tawau: Jeramas Sdn Bhd Managing Director Tahir Yahya said he was prepared to meet Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman to resolve the controversy surrounding the commercial project on five open spaces at Sabindo here, when the latter returns from his annual leave. He said Saturday that the company had complied with the Tawau Municipal Council's directive to suspend works, after receiving an official notification last Monday.
Council President Salsidu Ibrahim had, on Tuesday, warned that he would not hesitate to lodge a police report if the developer failed to comply with the stop-work order on Wednesday.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor last week confirmed that the State Cabinet had also ordered the project to stop with immediate effect, saying the controversial properties had been gazetted as open spaces.
According to Tahir, the project being undertaken by KK Land Sdn Bhd was being implemented in accordance with an agreement signed with TMC in 1996.
The project comprises two blocks of 22 shoplots - 10 being in Block A and 12 in Block D, with the council being allocated two lots in each block.
