Tuaran: The Enforcement and Licensing Division of the Local Government and Housing Ministry, together with Tuaran District Council (MDT), seized 10 sets of computer from a premise in the town here found to be operating cyber gambling, Tuesday.
The Ministry's Licensing and Enforcement Officer, Rahim Zakaria, led the operation, which began at 5.30pm, with several MDT enforcement personnel.
MDT Executive Officer, Sadan Hussain, said the operation would be ongoing to curb business premises that are operating without a licence, particularly those related to gambling activities.
Hence, he advised computer cyber operators and other premises that are operating such activities without a licence to cease their operations immediately.
Meanwhile, in Tamparuli last week, Sadan said 10 sets of computer, 11 monitors, two speakers, nine keyboards and two video games were confiscated under a similar operation from 9.30pm.
He said the MDT enforcement unit would be carrying out routine inspections on all business premises in the district to ensure the operators comply with the existing regulations and by-laws.
He also urged business operators to pay assessment rates and renew their trading licences before the end of this month.
