Beaufort: Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government, Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun has proposed that contractors here who fail to see to the maintenance of basic infrastructures in Hardcore Poor Housing Projects (PPRT) be blacklisted.
She said this in reference to regular complaints of PPRT residents in Kg Muhibah about the drainage system and rubbish dumping ground situated 10km from town, which have been a problem to them the past two years. She also urged the district council to look into the problems.
"The residents complained that the contractor concerned had failed to provide a systematic drainage.
"Not only that, they said the appointed contractor who handles waste disposal also failed to maintain the dumping ground and did not follow stipulated guidelines set by the local authorities here," she said.
Azizah, who is also Member of Parliament for Beaufort, spoke after presenting school bags to pupils in Kg Muhibah in her parliamentary area, recently.
"The complaints have reached me and I, subsequently, visited the village, recently. I found all the complaints to be true.
"Hence, I have urge the concerned quarters to take necessary action to resolve these problems," said Azizah.
She also asked the villagers of Kg Muhibah to directly inform her through SMS if the problems raised are not solved soon.
