Sabah BN to help S'wak counterparts

Published on: Thursday, April 27, 2006

Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Musa Haji Aman said Sabah Barisan Nasional will pool their resources to help their Sarawak counterparts in the coming elections next month.

Musa, who is also Sabah BN Chairman, pointed out that a convincing victory would further expand development programmes in Sarawak under the 9th Malaysia Plan, with an allocation of RM13.4 billion. He was confident the people of Sarawak would return the BN with a handsome majority in order to continue enjoying progress and development.

The opposition in Sarawak had been weakened by the lack of positive issues, he said, adding that the people had expected the dissolution of the State Assembly any time to pave the way for an election.

The Sarawakians are ready for the major event that could further enhance a much brighter future, he said. He assured that Sabah BN component parties had no problem in pooling their energy and resources to help their Sarawak counterparts to rout the opposition.

Sabah BN controls 59 of the 60 State seats and 24 of the 25 Parliamentary seats. The others were won by independent candidates in Kuala Penyu and Sandakan, respectively, who are pro-BN.
