Tawau: A teacher was among three people detained on suspicion of involvement in drugs during an operation at Kampung Hidayat, here, Monday.
District Police Chief, ACP Haji Idris Jikon, said the first suspect, a local teacher at a primary school here in his late 30s, was detained when police saw him throwing something onto the ground during the 11am offensive.
"Upon further checking, we found the teacher tested positive to Syabu," he said. Two men, a Bugis and a Chinese, were also detained when police found drugs on them.
"We found two packets of crystalline substances believed to be Syabu kept in the Bugis man's pants while another packet in the Chinese man's underwear," he said.
Idris said such operation would be conducted from time to time to curb drug abuse in the district as the menace was serious.
