Kota Kinabalu: Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek heads the list of 529 people who will be bestowed with State awards today in conjunction with the 60th birthday celebrations of Head of State Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah.
He was conferred the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK) which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima.
Two others to receive the SPDK are Chief Justice of Sabah and Sarawak Datuk Richard Malanjum and Kelantan Umno Chief Datuk Annuar Musa.
Thirty-six people were awarded the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) which carries the title Datuk.
Among the PGDK recipients are Sabah Commissioner of Police Dato Mangsor Ismail, former Federal Secretary to Sabah Amiruddin Hj Abdullah, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister's Department Datu Nasrun Datu Mansur and two Assistant Ministers of Agriculture and Food Industries Japlin Akim and Bobbey Ahfang Suan.
Also made Datuks were KKIP Chairman and Bugaya Assemblyman Basalie Tarireh @ Hj Abd Hamid, Likas Assemblyman Liew Teck Chan, Pontian Member of Parliament Hasni Hj Mohamad and Political Secretary to the Minister in the Chief Minister's Department Hjh Hamisa Samat.
Other new Datuks are lawyer Liew Vui Keong who is LDP's President-designate, Sabah MIC President Jothi Veeramani Valmuni, Sabah Journalists Association (SJA) President Joniston Bangkuai, former Fifth Infantry Brigade Commander Brig Gen Md Ruslan Md Ali Hanafiah, State Health Director Dr Rahimah Mohd Said, PBS Elopura Chief Thien Fui Yun, former Information Department Head Selamat Sukimi, Sabah Forestry Department Director Sam Manan, Dovsai Director Ag Sahak Ag Salleh, Sedcovest Chairman Awg Sham Amit and PBS Permanent Chairman Claudius Sundang Alex.
Also on the Datukship list are Everise Ventures Sdn Bhd President Goh Tian Chuan, PBRS senior leader Ellron Angin, Dr A Chandi Dhas P. Arunasalam Pillay, Dr Chew Han Ching, Dr M. Atun Wee and Teck Guan boss Hong Ngit Ming.
Former athlete Dilbagh Singh Kler, Ismail Ibrahim @ Tony, Khalid Safan, Lawrence Sinsua, Malay Traders and Entrepreneurs Association Malaysia, Sabah President Ramlee Marahaban, Robert De Souza, Tan Tong Man @ Tan Kee Man, Tham Khoon Siong and Zaini Diman also received the PGDK.
Nine people would receive the Jaksa Pendamai (JP). They are Membakut Assemblyman Hj Mohd Ariffin Ariff, Deputy State Secretary Datuk Noni J. Said, businessman and philanthropist Datuk Robert Phang Miow Sin, LDP Youth Chief Teo Chee Kang, Dr Ganeshanadha V.S, Senathirajah, lawyer Johnny Kulai, Mohd Sauffi Hj Ibrahim, Hjh Rosmawati Lasuki and Datuk Victor Gabriel William.
Forty-four receive the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (ASDK), 78 Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK), 130 Bintang Setia Kinabalu (BSK), 171 the Bintang Kinabalu (BK) and 58 Sijil Kehormat (SK).
Among the ASDK recipients are Assistant Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs Jornah Mohizim, Penampang Member of Parliament Donald Mojuntin, Kedaimaian Assemblyman Timbon @ Herbert Lagadan and Kundasang Assemblyman Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
Seven journalists would also receive awards. They are Chris Maskilone (Daily Express), Muguntan Vanar (Star), Lailah Elok (RTM), Malina Jamarin (Information Department), Chuah Kim Huat (Asia Times) Eddy Angat (Sabah Times) and Marutin Ansiung (Sabah Times). All receive the BSK except Eddy who would receive the BK.
