Kuala Lumpur: Taxpayers can now submit their tax details to Inland Revenue Board (IRB) via e-filing without worrying about making mistakes by making use of TaxSaya, a tax tool.Developed by EA-Link System Sdn Bhd, the software comes in three languages Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin - to help taxpayers in understanding the e-filing procedures.

EA-Link System's managing director Trevor Keegan said that TaxSaya provided detailed guidelines for completing the e-filing form.

"As the users fill up sections of the form, it will automatically calculate the amount of tax payable, including offering a e-filing template without having to go through the problems of calculating the tax," he told Bernama in an interview here recently.

Under the IRB e-filing service is a free electronic tax return form that enables taxpayers to submit their tax details via the Internet. The application was introduced for corporate taxpayers in 2003 and was expanded to cover individual taxpayers in 2004.

"Among the reasons TaxSaya was created is to help taxpayers in filling the form and understanding what they are filling regardless of whether they know tax laws and more importantly, to remind them to keep the records that are needed during a tax audit," Keegan said.

He said a special feature of TaxSaya was the "animation" designed to guide the user on tax computation.

For example, he added, the green arrows would mean a bigger rebate or less tax while red arrows indicated more tax or less rebate.

Keegan said tips were also provided for each section of the tax form, adding that security of infomation provided was assured.
