Kota Kinabalu: All 60 members of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly including the sole opposition representative from the DAP took their oaths of office before Speaker Datuk Juhar Mahiruddin Tuesday. The ceremony began at 10am with the swearing-in of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, followed by his three deputies - Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Datuk Yahya Hussin and Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah.
Then all other members of the State Cabinet and their assistants took their oaths, followed by the backbenchers.
The last to be sworn-in was Jimmy Wong Sze Phin of Sri Tanjong. Musa told reporters later that the first sitting of the 13th State Legislative Assembly would run for five days from Tuesday and the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah would open it today (Wednesday).
Besides the motion of thanks for the Yang Dipertua Negeri's address, the House would debate three bills - Sabah State Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2008, Cultural Heritage (Preservation)(Amendment) Bill 2008 and First Supplementary Supply Estimation Bill 2008. Musa also said that there was no need to have appointed assemblymen at this point as the present number of people's representatives was sufficient.
