Penampang: Police are trying to contact the family members of Chinese jogger, Tong Ju, who was killed in a hit-and-run, near here, Saturday.
Acting District Police Chief, ASP Wan Badrul Hisham Wan Osman said plans were afoot to reach the 54-year-old man's relatives through the Chinese Consul-General. The body would be kept at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital morgue while they contact the next of kin.
At the same time, he urged those who witnessed or had any information pertaining to the tragedy to contact police immediately.
"No arrest has been made yet," he said. Those with information should contact Insp. Razive Zakaria at 012-828 0852 or 088-712222.
Tong Ju mentioned in a past interview that he had planned to travel to 193 countries but it was not to be as the cross-country jogger's body was found at the roadside off Jalan Penampang-Papar Lama, near Kg Limbanak at 6.35am on Saturday.
Police believe he was jogging to Papar when he was knocked down.
The divorcee and father of one embarked on a world tour on July 1, 2007, visiting Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, East Timor, Brunei and the Philippines.
Prior to that he spent 13 years travelling in his country. Tong Ju, who was recuperating from an eye treatment, had planned to go to Taiwan before returning home to Hei Long Jiang, Harbin, to celebrate his father's 80th birthday.
