Kuala Lumpur: Chief Justice Tan Sri Zaki Tun Azmi heads a list of 1,849 recipients of awards and medals in conjunction with the birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin today (Saturday).
He receives the Seri Setia Mahkota Malaysia (SSM) award which carries the title "Tun".
Datin Seri Endon Mahmood, the late wife of former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, has been posthumously conferred the SSM.
Forty-four people are conferred the "Tan Sri" title while national badminton player Datuk Lee Chong Wei is bestowed the Darjah Bakti award, which is of high standing although it does not come with any title.
Three of the Tan Sris are from Sabah. They are Sandakan Umno Division Chief Datuk Seri Panglima Ampong Puyon, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah Advisor Datuk Seri Herman Luping and Wawasan Gunung Emas Sdn Bhd Chairman Brig. Jen Datuk Liew Yun Fah.
Of the 44 people conferred the "Tan Sri" title, three receive the Panglima Mangku Negara (PMN) award. They are Court of Appeal President Tan Sri Alauddin Mohd Sheriff, former MCA President Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting and former Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar.
Forty-one others receive the Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM) which also carries the "Tan Sri" title. They are Federal Court Judge Datuk Abdul Aziz Mohamad, Women, Family and Community Development Ministry Secretary-general Datuk Faizah Mohd Tahir. Federal Court Judge Datuk Nik Hashim Nik Ab Rahman, former Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohd Yusof Hitam, Chief Syariah Judge Datuk Ibrahim Lembut, Director-General of Education Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom, Perak Mufti Datuk Seri Harussani Zakaria, Chief Judge of Malaya Datuk Arifin Zakaria.
