SCA to stage time trial on Oct 31

Kota Kinabalu: It is going to be a very busy month ahead for the State track cyclists as the Sabah Cycling Association is stepping up a gear in their preparation for the upcoming Sukma Games in Melaka next year.

The association's secretary Beatrice Lajawa said the October time trial is set to be held at Alam Mesra, opposite 1Borneo on Oct 31 at 1.30pm.

Four events: 200m, 500m, 1km and the Scratch race will be staged on the day.

The trial will also be the platform for the pre-selection of athletes for the National Youth Track Cycling Championship to be held in Kuala Lumpur Velodrome, Cheras from Nov 19-23.

She added that a meeting on the selection of Sukma athletes will also be held earlier on the same day at 10.30am and it is compulsory for all coaches and those athletes who have been shortlisted to attend.

She said the venue for the briefing is yet to be determined but all parties will be informed at a latter date.

Meanwhile, a Kem Bakat Sukan Berbasikal (Fasa 3/2009) will be held at the Ipoh Velodrome, Perak from Nov 2-10 and Beatrice advised all coaches who are interested to send their new athletes for the programme to participate in the October time trial as the pre-selection will also be held during the race.

The list of names shortlisted for the Melaka Sukma are as follows: Boys - Marshall Michael, Baxter Sylvester, Julian Ong, Amerdez Reuben Ong, Alistair Reuben Ong, Jasper Johnathan Chong, Oliver Oscar Chong, Laurel Lauridsen Adrian, Bryan Tino Teo, Chai Eng Hou, Lionel Richie Julius, Irie Alixron Pausek.

Girls - Bridget Augustine, Lauretta Eva Adrian, Brittney Adlynne R Anang, Noor Azian Maslin Sazali, Natashya Soon, Aini Suhaina Suhaimi, Edna Mathius, Laura Anthony, Marcila Bingulan.
