Kota Kinabalu: Society For Sabah Heart Fund (SOSHF) president, Datuk Christine Tibok-Vanhouten said to date it has helped 485 patients, 428 of whom were sent to hospitals in the Kuala Lumpur such as Gleneagles Medical Centre and Institut Jantung Negara for surgeries, and 57 patients were sent to Korea for operations and treatments.
According to Vanhouten, the government only sponsored around RM110,000 for all the patients while the rest was borne by SOSHF.
The cost would be much cheaper should there be a hospital here in Sabah specialising in treatment relating to heart complications, she said at press conference held for the Sabah Supermodel & Manhunk 2009 / Charity Show In Aid of SOSHF here.
The event to be held at Star City Conference Hall end this year, is jointly organised by Borneo Events Production and Diriwan 88 Lotteries Corporation Sdn Bhd.
Also present at the press conference were Peter Dicky Lee, the Managing Director of Borneo Events Production, Eva Susau, Datuk William J.Chai and Yu Yet Shan, Assistant General Manager of Diriwan 88 Lotteries Corporation Sdn Bhd.
