Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Under-13 Boys' team has been drawn into Group C of the 22nd Milo/Malaysia Hopes Table Tennis Championships to be held here on Nov 22-25 together with Malacca and Negeri Sembilan.
In Group A were Selangor, Kedah and Pahang while Group B - Kuala Lumpur, Perak and Penang and Group D, Johor, Sarawak and Putrajaya.
In the Girls' Under-13, Sabah team has been drawn into Group T together with Sarawak and Kedah.
In Group Q were Selangor, Putrajaya and Johor while Group R, Malacca, Perak and Penang and Group S, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang.
Last year Selangor topped the Boys' and Girls' Under-13 events.
Sabah last year did not win any placing as well as in the Boys and Girls' Under 10 events.
On other developments, Sabah Table Tennis Association (STTA) is hosting the tournament this year, the second time after the game was mooted by Table Tennis Association of Malaysia (TTAM).
State table tennis associations take turns hosting the annual event.
President of STTA, Edward Chua Soon An said apart from the Boys and Girls Under-13 and Boys and Girls Under-10 categories, there would be also Perpaduan Under-13 event.
He said the Perpaduan category is aimed at raising the standard of Bumiputera paddlers.
According to him, some 300 and 400 players and officials from 12 teams would be taking part in the event.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports will be hosting a welcoming dinner for the participants.
